JIM BARTH – Park City

A native of Palos Verdes, CA, Jim Barth received his bachelor’s degree in real estate finance and holds graduate degrees in law and business from the University of San Diego. His career in real estate began in 1982, and he has since attained a very broad professional background, including brokerage, finance, law and development. Prior to law school, Jim worked with Charterhouse Investment Company, where he was involved in structuring real estate joint ventures as an exclusive representative for some of the nation’s premier lenders.

Upon arriving in Park City in 1991, Jim spent several years with the Prudential Coleman Real Estate, as Director of the Coleman Consulting Group, which specialized in entitlement, pre-development and brokerage-related matters for real estate projects located throughout the Intermountain West. In 1994, Jim became a partner with the law firm of David W. Johnson and Associates, Park City. That firm specialized in transactional real estate matters, including representation of some of the area’s most prominent property owners and real estate interests. Jim’s background in real-estate law enables him to better negotiate through the real-estate process, as well as assist in structuring transactions to protect his clients’ interests.Prior to joining Summit Sotheby’s International Realty, Jim was the in-house counsel for Prudential Utah Real Estate, but very quickly realized that the lifestyle offered by the brokerage side of the business was much more appealing to him than that of legal counsel. He transitioned to a full-time Broker, and during his first year selling resort investment real estate, Jim was honored by the Park City Board of Realtors with their “Rookie of the Year” and “Professional Achievement” awards. He was also presented with Prudential’s “Rookie of the Year” award. Jim received these awards not only for his outstanding achievement in real estate sales and service, but more importantly to Jim, for his high regard for the ethics of his profession.Jim is extremely active in community affairs. He served for over a decade on the Park City Planning Commission, being honored to chair the commission for two terms. Additionally, Jim has served on the Summit County Planning Commission and was Chairman of the Summit County Water Concurrency Board. Jim’s community service helps to keep him on the forefront of new developments and related topics, which in turn allows him to keep his clients exceptionally well informed.Jim is married to Nancy Barth and has two sons.
